Program One-On-One Teacher The Program One-On-One Teacher is a key member of our educational team responsible for creating a nurturing and enriching learning environment for children. The Program One-On-One Teacher will play a vital role in fostering individualized learning experiences for young children, providing tailored instruction that supports their developmental milestones and academic growth. This role entails not only guiding classroom staff but also fostering strong partnerships with families. The Program One-On-One Teacher should actively support cultural diversity and understanding among peers and children through classroom materials, discussions, activities and environment. The Program One-On-One Teacher must be flexible, reliable and accountable. A willingness to be open to feedback regarding teaching and classroom practices is required. Additionally, as a faith-based program all staff incorporate the values and principles of Christianity into everyday educational experiences and a willingness to teach and model these values is required.
Key Responsibilities :
Curriculum Development and Implementation:
The Program One-On-One Teacherdevelops and organizes individual educational plans for children having challenging behaviors and with developmental delays. Create a developmentally age-appropriate strategies and resources to implement with children who need one-on-one support. May incorporate ideas with the Teaching Strategies Creative Curriculum and assessments, making sure that it is engaging and culturally sensitive and promote holistic child development. Incorporate curriculum development strategies that promote early intervention and childhood development best practices. Ensure personalized developmental educational plans and activities for each child align with the center's educational philosophy, guidelines and each child's individual needs and strengths.
Teaching and Guidance :
The Program One-On-One Teacher ensures that individual educational plans, activities, lessons, and routines meet the needs of individual children. Work with the Primary Lead Teacher to ensure classroom activities and the environment support the physical, cognitive, emotional, social, and spiritual development of all children. Interact with children in a positive and engaging manner and support the positive interactions of other classroom staff with children. Is willing to teach/show staff members how to follow educational and developmental plans for each child.
Classroom Management :
Create a safe, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment that encourages children's social, emotional, and cognitive growth. Maintain classroom organization and cleanliness, including but not limited to the arrangement of materials, centers and resources and daily cleaning tasks.
Family Engagement :
Build and maintain positive relationships with families using open and effective communication. Build partnerships that support children's learning and development through parent-teacher conferences and sharing regular updates on children's progress and development in person and through Brightwheel.
Observation and Assessment:
Continuously monitor and document children's progress and behaviors sharing with families during daily conversations and conferences. Partner with Primary Lead Teacher to ensure educational plans, developmental screenings such as ASQ-3s, ASQ-SE, and Teaching Strategies Checkpoints are completed in a timely manner. Monitor child progress through assessments when appropriate, adjusting instruction as needed. Maintain detailed documentation of each child's growth, behavior management plans, and compliance with mandated reporting laws.
Guidance and Mentorship :
Provide leadership and guidance to classroom staff, fostering a collaborative and professional work environment. Offer mentorship, training, and support to new and less experienced teachers.
Safety and Compliance :
Adhere to all safety protocols, licensing regulations, and center policies for classrooms and playgrounds to ensure the well-being of children and staff. Report issues directly to supervisory staff so they can be addressed in a timely manner. Complete necessary paperwork to document safety concerns, injuries and incidents.
Professional Development :
Stay current with best practices in early childhood education through ongoing training and professional development opportunities. Be open to input from outside support such as the Director, mental health consultants and the center's early achiever's coach. Maintain all certificates and training required by the Department of Children Youth and Families (DCYF).
Qualifications :
Be at least eighteen years old; Have an Associate of Applied Science in Early Childhood Education (ECE) or 47 College ECE Credits Have Special Education credits/certificate Complete the applicable preservice requirements, pursuant to
WAC 110-300-0105
. Child Care Basic Complete department's enhancing quality of early learning (EQEL) in-service training within 36 months of hire and then 20 hours of continuing education every three years after (See
WAC 110-300-0107
for details) Have submitted an Education Application in MERIT Proven experience working One-On-One with twelve months old through year-old children with challenging behaviors and developmental delays in educational settings Strong knowledge of early childhood education principles, child development instruction, and behavior management techniques. Familiarity with special education needs, early intervention strategies, and classroom management best practices. Excellent communication skills for parent interaction and team collaboration. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with students of diverse backgrounds and abilities while maintaining a nurturing approach. Ability to adapt teaching methods based on individual child needs and progress assessments.
Physical Requirements :
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds. A bility to kneel, bend, squat, and sit on the floor with children. Ability to stand for extended periods of time. Visual and auditory ability to respond to critical incidents and the physical ability to act swiftly in emergency situations.
Pay:
$19.00 - $21.00 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 per week
