Full Time Hourly Supports:

Child Care Associate Directors, Assistant Directors, Lead Teachers and Senior Teachers I. Job Summary The Child Care Teacher will execute the Bethlehem Lutheran Child Care program, which includes activities for children that stress physical, social, spiritual, and emotional growth. The Teacher prepares materials and classrooms for class activities and conducts all activities in a safe, organized, and productive manner. In addition, the Teacher will complete duties to ensure the facility is sanitary and maintained in good order. It is expected that the Child Care Teacher will complete personal development activities to ensure that she/he learn child care practices and Bethlehem's policies and procedures. II. General Duties and Responsibilities 1. Professionalism A. Under the direction of Child Care Senior Teachers, Lead Teachers, and Assistant Directors provide a warm and nurturing environment in which the child can grow. B. Attempt to meet the needs of all children in your classroom Interact/Co-play play with children Utilize positive communication techniques Help to provide an attractive, well-kept classroom that encourages creativity and exploration for the children C. Show professional attitude and demeanor toward children, parents and visitors and other staff members at all times. 2. Characteristics At least 18 years old Has passion for the mission of BLCC Has a good work ethic Readily acknowledges weaknesses Arrives early/on time for shifts as an example to everyone Lets others know if going to be present ASAP Team player Is able to get along socially with coworkers and parents 3. Maintenance Duties Maintain a clean and sanitized classroom by regularly washing tables, toys, floors, etc. as needed Be aware of the maintenance and repair of classroom equipment and keep Assistant Director and/or Associate Director informed of any necessary repairs or replacement of said equipment 4. General Tasks A. Leading and Planning duties With the direction of the Assistant Director and/or Lead Teacher, be responsible for the overall supervision and daily class functions of a group of children Participates in developmentally appropriate activities with children Utilize positive discipline techniques Greet children and parents upon arrival in a welcoming, enthusiastic manner B. Can supervise children alone in the classroom in ratio (be left alone with children for longer than 5 minutes) C. Arrive with positive attitude, ready to work, even if there was a late night prior D. Checking and restocking classroom supplies E. Assists with toileting skills when appropriate F. Helps distribute snacks and lunches to children G. Helps wash, dry, and fold laundry -distribute to correct classroom H. Maintains accurate count of children at all times I. Models active supervision J. Can work in infant room Feed Bottles Rock babies to sleep Make decisions about infant schedules Speak to parents at drop off and pick up about more detailed items and make sure messages from parents are relayed to classroom staff K. Properly document incident reports 5. Additional Classroom Activities Teach each child about our Savior by modeling a Christ-like attitude Supervise children in the classroom, bathroom, and hallway, never allowing the children to be alone Help maintain a quality rest time for the children and assist children that may require help to fall asleep Minimize personal distractions while helping children fall asleep (i.e. limit phone use) Provide quiet activities for the children who are not sleeping after 30 min of resting Inform coworkers if you are leaving a classroom or area and advise the m as to when you will return. 6. Developmental Duties A. Be aware of all personnel policies and comply with the policies B. Accept assistance and guidance from other team members when needed and as directed C. Participate in spiritual growth and development opportunities D. Attend staff meetings E. Participate in continuing education opportunities 7. Other duties The teacher may be asked to perform duties not specifically listed in this job description. It is expected these duties be carried out Assist the opening or closing duties of the classroom as necessary Make recommendations for purchases needed III. Required knowledge, skills, and abilities 1. Spiritual Willingness to grow in the knowledge of Jesus Christ and the teachings of the Bible (a required course will be offered during the first 6 months of employment). Support the mission and vision of Bethlehem Church and be loyal to the leadership of the church in all aspects of life 2.Professional Education/Experience At least Two (2) years of successful experience in working with young children preferred. Certification in First Aid and CPR (offered in-house). Abusive Head Trauma training Active Supervision training Standard and Universal Precautions training Mandated reporter training

Physical Requirements:

The Teacher must have the ability to bend, twist, stoop, kneel, crawl, grasp and lift as needed to support free play activities and maintenance tasks. Lifting requirement is 20 pounds. The work environment includes both indoor and outdoor exposure with outdoor exposure limited to no less than 0 degrees. Work Remotely NO Additional BLCC Application required
