Job Description
As part of the Lomira School District, Little Lions Child Care is excited to welcome an Assistant Director to our management team to help support our growing program and continue providing high-quality care to the children and families we serve! The Assistant Director supports the Director in the operation, supervision, administration, and promotion of the childcare program. This role is responsible for assisting in the creation and maintenance of a safe, nurturing, developmentally appropriate, and high-quality learning environment. The Assistant Director ensures compliance with Wisconsin childcare licensing requirements and District policies, striving to meet the needs of children, families, and the community. Under the direction of the Childcare Director, the Assistant Director contributes to the program's daily operations, including staff supervision, scheduling, family communication, enrollment, recordkeeping, health and safety, and program quality assurance. The Assistant Director may assume designated responsibilities of the Childcare Director in the Director's absence and will perform other duties as assigned. Duties Assist the Childcare Director with the daily operations of the childcare program to ensure smooth, efficient functioning. Help ensure the program complies with Wisconsin childcare licensing requirements and District policies. Support classroom assignments, staffing schedules, student transitions, and daily routines to maintain consistency and organization. Monitor daily attendance, staffing levels, and child-to-staff ratios. Help maintain a safe, clean, organized, and welcoming environment. Assist the Director in implementing program procedures and expectations. Identify operational concerns and communicate them promptly to the Childcare Director. Serve as a positive role model for children and staff, fostering a professional and nurturing atmosphere. Assume designated administrative responsibilities in the absence of the Childcare Director to ensure continuity of operations. Director Designee Responsibilities When designated by the Childcare Director or District administration, the Assistant Childcare Director may: Provide day-to-day leadership of the childcare program. Coordinate staff coverage and classroom operations. Address routine staff and family concerns. Ensure compliance with daily licensing and safety requirements. Communicate operational information to District administration. Make immediate decisions necessary to maintain the safety and well-being of children and staff. Perform other responsibilities normally assigned to the Childcare Director as specifically delegated, to ensure continuity of operations in the Director's absence. The Assistant Director will consult with the Childcare Director whenever circumstances require administrative judgment that falls outside the Assistant Director's delegated authority. Required Qualifications Associate's or bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Education, Human Services, or a related field preferred. Relevant experience working with young children in a childcare or early childhood setting. Experience working collaboratively with staff and families. Knowledge of child development and developmentally appropriate practices. Willingness and ability to learn and follow Wisconsin childcare licensing requirements. Demonstrated organizational and communication skills. Ability to maintain accurate records and documentation. Capacity to exercise sound judgment and maintain confidentiality. Current CPR/First Aid certification or ability to obtain within a designated period. Satisfactory completion of required background checks and other employment requirements.
