Title Assistant Professor of Psychology (Developmental) Tenure Track or Non Tenure Track Tenure Track Faculty Rank Assistant Professor Open Date 06/29/2026 Close Date Full or Part Time Full Time Position Summary The Psychology Department at Trinity College seeks to fill a tenure-track position in Developmental Psychology, beginning in July 2027. The teaching load is four courses per year for the first two years and five courses per year thereafter. Annual responsibilities will include a core course in Developmental Psychology, its accompanying laboratory, and an advanced course in Developmental Psychology. Other potential courses include Introductory Psychology, statistics and methodology courses, first-year and senior seminars, and/or courses in the candidate's area(s) of interest. The successful candidate will be expected to develop and maintain a program of empirical research and to engage bright, motivated, and diverse psychology undergraduates in that research. Opportunities for community-engaged research and teaching, including the development of partnerships that support student learning and scholarship, are substantial. Trinity has an on-site childcare center (Trinity Community Childcare Center) that works closely with faculty in the Psychology Department; a robust partnership with the Hartford Magnet Trinity College Academy, a grades 6-12 interdistrict magnet school with an early college program; access to the Learning Corridor, a network of regional public schools serving students at the elementary, middle, and high school levels; and strong relationships with surrounding health organizations, including Hartford HealthCare, the Institute of Living, Connecticut Children's Medical Center, and the University of Connecticut Health Center. Additional opportunities for community engagement and collaboration are available through Trinity's Center for Hartford Engagement & Research ( CHER ), which supports programs such as the Community Learning Initiative, the Liberal Arts Action Lab, and the Public Humanities Collaborative. Qualifications We are seeking a candidate with training in child development (infancy, early, or middle childhood) and with research experience in any area of study within Developmental Psychology.
