Open until filled Description The Department of Psychology at The University of Texas at Austin invites applications for a full-time, 9-month, non-tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor of Instruction or Associate Professor of Instruction, to begin August 2027. Overview The successful candidate will contribute to the department's instructional mission through excellence in undergraduate teaching, curriculum development, and service. This position emphasizes high-quality, evidence-based instruction and active engagement in a large and vibrant psychology program.
Primary responsibilities include:
Teach a range of undergraduate psychology courses. Contribute to course coordination and curriculum development. Mentor undergraduate students and support their academic success. Engage in the academic mission of the Department of Psychology. Additional responsibilities include course design, mentoring and supervising graduate and undergraduate teaching assistants, maintaining accurate course records, and participating in ongoing pedagogical development consistent with university best practices. The in-person, 9-month instructional load is three courses in each semester. Initial professional-track faculty appointments are typically made for one year and may be renewed subject to performance and funding. Salary will be commensurate with rank and qualifications. Many build long-term, rewarding careers in the department. Qualifications Required Qualifications Ph.D. in Psychology or a closely related field by the start date. Demonstrated evidence of excellence in undergraduate teaching. Commitment to effective instruction for all students. Enthusiasm for teaching across a range of class sizes and formats, including in-person and online instruction. Ability to work in person in Austin, Texas. Preferred Qualifications Experience teaching large enrollment courses or coordinating multi-section courses. Expertise in areas aligned with departmental needs, including social, developmental, personality, and/or clinical psychology. Evidence of teaching innovation, for example in assessment or curriculum design. Research expertise that could support undergraduate experiential learning opportunities.
