Description The Department of Psychology at The University of Texas at Austin invites applications for a full-time, 9-month, non-tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Clinical Assistant Professor or Clinical Associate Professor, to begin January or August 2027. We seek a highly qualified clinician-educator with a strong commitment to evidence-based clinical practice and training. Overview The Clinical Psychology program at The University of Texas at Austin follows a clinical science model and is aligned with the principles of the Psychological Clinical Science Accreditation System (PCSAS), emphasizing the integration of rigorous scientific training with high-quality, evidence-based clinical practice. This role centers on training graduate students in evidence-based clinical practice within a clinical science model and offers the opportunity to contribute meaningfully to a strong and collaborative training environment. The successful candidate will contribute to our Clinical Psychology Ph.D. program primarily through psychological assessment training, clinical supervision, undergraduate and graduate teaching, and program service.
Responsibilities will include:
Teaching graduate-level courses, including some combination of intellectual, ADHD, personality, neuropsychological and related assessment topics Teaching undergraduate courses aligned with departmental priorities and the candidate's expertise. Providing clinical supervision in psychological assessment with emphasis on integrated report writing, case conceptualization, and diagnostic formulation. Contributing to graduate clinical training in evidence-based psychotherapy, consistent with program needs and the candidate's expertise. Participating in program service, including admissions, evaluation of clinical competencies, re-accreditation procedures, and curricular development. Helping maintain a strong, collaborative training environment. The 9-month instructional load is three courses in each long semester and will include a combination of classroom instruction and clinical supervision. Initial professional-track faculty appointments are typically for one year and may be renewed based on performance for up to three years at which time the position will be reviewed. Many build long-term, rewarding careers in the department. Qualifications Required Qualifications Ph.D. or Psy.
D. in Clinical Psychology or a closely related field from an APA- or PCSAS-accredited program Completion of an APA-accredited internship Licensed or license eligible as a psychologist in Texas by the start date Demonstrated expertise in psychological assessment, including cognitive, intellectual, ADHD, personality, neuropsychological, and/or diagnostic evaluations Experience in supervising graduate students in psychological assessment, case conceptualization, and integrated report writing Commitment to evidence-based practice, clinical science principles, and graduate clinical training Evidence of effectiveness in teaching and/or clinical supervision Availability to work full-time in person in Austin, Texas Preferred Qualifications Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology Formal training and/or expertise in one or more specialty areas, including neuropsychological assessment, forensic assessment, complex differential diagnosis, health psychology, behavioral medicine, or related areas of practice Expertise in adult and lifespan neuropsychological assessment, forensic assessment, and/or complex differential diagnosis, with primary clinical experience in adult populations Experience providing and supervising evidence-based psychotherapy, including group modalities Experience teaching at both the graduate and undergraduate levels Commitment to culturally responsive assessment and intervention and experience acros clinical populations Interest in contributing to interdisciplinary training initiatives across the Department of Psychology Application Instructions Applicants should submit the following materials: Cover letter describing clinical, teaching, and supervision experience Curriculum vitae Teaching statement (fewer than 3 pages, including approach to assessment training) Evidence of teaching effectiveness (e.g., evaluations, syllabi) Names and contact information for three references who can speak to teaching and clinical competence Review of applications will begin on August 15, 2026, and continue until the position is filled.
