Shepherd University invites applications for a nine-month, full-time tenure-track assistant professor of Psychology position within the College of Science, Health, and Wellness. The ideal candidate will have a doctoral degree in Psychology and a strong background in Psychological Science and a commitment to undergraduate education. Candidates should be able to teach the introductory course, Statistics, Research Methods, and courses in their area of specialization. The typical course load is four classes per semester. The Psychology program at Shepherd is a vibrant major with approximately 125 students and a strong record of preparing graduates for advanced study and professional careers. Shepherd University is located in Shepherdstown, WV. It is an accredited public four-year state-appropriated university with approximately 3300 students enrolled. Shepherd University is situated in the Shenandoah Valley, on the banks of the Potomac River, in historic Shepherdstown, WV. Located in the Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia, Shepherdstown is within 20 miles of Maryland, Pennsylvania, and Virginia. It is approximately 65 miles from the metropolitan areas of Washington DC and Baltimore, MD. Priority will be given to applicants who submit their applications by November 1, 2026. The search will remain open until the position is filled. Starting date is August, 2027. Minimum Qualifications The successful candidate must have completed a doctoral degree in Psychology or be ABD by the time of employment and demonstrate experience teaching at the college level. Preferred Qualifications The ideal candidate will possess the ability to teach Introduction to Psychology, Statistics, Research Methods, and the undergraduate capstone. They will have experience engaging undergraduate students in the classroom and involving them in research activities.
Rank and Salary:
Full-time Tenure-Track Assistant Professor. Anticipated salary range is $55,000 - $58,000.
