Position:
Reading Interventionist About Desert Reading Intervention Desert Reading Intervention is a growing private practice dedicated to providing evidence-based literacy instruction grounded in the Science of Reading. We work with students from preschool through middle school in areas including learning to read, reading intervention, dyslexia support, homeschool instruction, literacy enrichment, fluency, spelling, comprehension, and writing. We are looking for a compassionate, reliable educator who is passionate about helping students become confident readers while providing exceptional support to families. Responsibilities Provide one-on-one reading intervention and literacy instruction to students using evidence-based structured literacy practices. Deliver engaging lessons in phonological awareness, phonics, decoding, fluency, vocabulary, comprehension, spelling, and writing. Prepare lesson materials using Desert Reading Intervention's instructional framework and provided resources. Administer informal progress monitoring and maintain accurate session notes. Communicate professionally with parents regarding student progress and home practice recommendations. Maintain a positive, encouraging learning environment that builds confidence and motivation. Participate in occasional team meetings and ongoing professional development. Qualifications California Teaching Credential preferred. Experience teaching elementary to high school-aged students. Knowledge of the Science of Reading and structured literacy instruction preferred. IMSE, Orton-Gillingham, LETRS, or similar training is a plus (training opportunities may be available). Strong communication and organizational skills. Reliable transportation for local travel between students and/or office location. Passion for helping struggling readers succeed. Must be willing to obtain (or already possess) a DOJ/FBI Live Scan background clearance prior to working with students. Compensation $40-48/hour depending on session length. Paid per scheduled instructional session. Flexible scheduling. Clients, scheduling, billing, curriculum support, materials, and administrative support provided.
