Job Description

Family Literacy Teacher Wallingford Adult Education is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Family Literacy Teacher to join our Family Literacy Program.
Locations:
Monday:
Highland Elementary School Thursday:
Moses Y.
Beach Elementary School Schedule:
2:00-3:00 p.m. (30 minutes of paid planning time per class)
Professional Development Begins:
Mid-August 2026
Classes Begin:
Mid-September 2026
Responsibilities:
Provide engaging literacy instruction to adult learners participating in the Family Literacy Program. Foster a welcoming, inclusive, and supportive learning environment for parents and caregivers. Promote family engagement by helping adults develop literacy skills that support their children's academic success. Integrate technology and digital literacy into classroom instruction. Collaborate with program staff and participate in required professional development activities.
Qualifications:
Valid Connecticut teaching certification required. Experience working with adult learners, English language learners, or family literacy programs preferred. Strong communication, organizational, and digital literacy skills. Ability to create an engaging, culturally responsive learning environment.
Compensation:
$50.00 per hour through August 31, 2026 $51.00 per hour beginning September 1, 2026 30 minutes of paid planning time per class session Wallingford Adult Education serves adult learners from more than 40 countries and is committed to providing high-quality educational opportunities that strengthen families, support lifelong learning, and promote student success.
