4th and 5th Grade Reading Teacher

Position Overview:

4th & 5th Grade Reading Teacher Robert F. Munroe Day School is seeking a passionate and skilled educator to serve as a 4th and 5th Grade Reading Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year. The ideal candidate will inspire a love of reading while helping students build strong literacy skills, including comprehension, fluency, vocabulary, and critical thinking.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide targeted reading instruction for 4th and 5th grade students aligned with school standards. Design and implement engaging literacy lessons focused on comprehension strategies, vocabulary development, and fluency. Use a variety of instructional approaches, including small-group instruction and guided reading. Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners. Monitor student progress through formal and informal assessments and adjust instruction accordingly. Foster a positive, supportive classroom environment that promotes a love of reading. Collaborate with classroom teachers to support cross-curricular literacy development. Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress and growth. Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school events.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education, Reading, Literacy, or a related field (Master's degree preferred). Florida teaching certification or eligibility to obtain certification. Experience teaching upper elementary students, particularly in reading or literacy instruction. Strong understanding of reading development, comprehension strategies, and intervention practices. Excellent classroom management, communication, and organizational skills. Commitment to adapting to the mission and values of Robert F. Munroe Day School.

Preferred Qualifications:

Training or experience in the Science of Reading or structured literacy approaches. Experience with reading intervention programs and progress monitoring tools. Ability to analyze student data to inform instruction. Enthusiasm for fostering a school-wide culture of literacy.

$42,000.00 - $44,000.00 per year
