Role Description The Certified Academic Language Therapist (CALT) is a full-time or part-time on-site role based in Shreveport, LA. This role focuses on providing systematic, multisensory literacy intervention for students with dyslexia and other language-based learning differences, in alignment with Montessori principles and individualized education plans. Day-to-day responsibilities include conducting diagnostic and progress assessments, planning and delivering small-group and one-on-one sessions, and maintaining detailed documentation of student goals and outcomes. The CALT collaborates closely with classroom guides, support staff, and families to integrate therapy strategies into the broader educational program and to communicate progress and recommendations. Additional responsibilities may include contributing to school-wide literacy initiatives, participating in professional development, and supporting a culture of respect, inclusion, and student advocacy. Qualifications Current Certified Academic Language Therapist (CALT) credential or equivalent certification in academic language therapy; eligibility for Louisiana licensure or appropriate state recognition is preferred. Demonstrated expertise in structured literacy, multisensory language instruction, and evidence-based intervention for dyslexia and related language-based learning differences. Strong assessment skills, including administering and interpreting academic and language-related assessments and using data to inform individualized therapy plans. Effective collaboration and communication skills for working with students, families, classroom teachers, and interdisciplinary teams in a school setting. Experience or strong interest in Montessori education, child-centered practices, and supporting diverse learners within inclusive classroom environments. Excellent organizational skills, including maintaining accurate records, documenting progress, and managing a consistent therapy schedule. Bachelor's or Master's degree in Education, Special Education, Speech-Language Pathology, Psychology, or a related field; advanced training in literacy intervention is an asset. Commitment to ongoing professional learning, cultural competence, and creating a safe, respectful environment for learners of all backgrounds and abilities.
