Job Description

The Amherst Public School District is seeking highly qualified candidates for a part-time (0.60 FTE) Intervention Teacher position at Chestnut Street Academy, serving students in Grade 6. The Intervention Teacher is a building-based position that supports the school's Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS), Response to Intervention (RTI), and Child Study Team (CST) processes. The Intervention Teacher will collaborate with classroom teachers, instructional coaches, student support staff, and administrators to ensure that academic interventions are responsive to students' individual needs. Candidates should be knowledgeable about evidence-based math, reading, and writing intervention programs and experienced in using assessment data to identify student needs, plan targeted instruction, and monitor progress. A valid teaching license issued by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) at the appropriate grade level is required.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Coordinates and provides targeted reading, writing, and mathematics intervention services to students. Uses assessment and progress-monitoring data to identify student needs and adjust interventions. Monitors and documents the progress of students receiving academic intervention services. Participates in Child Study Team meetings and serves as a resource to teachers regarding Tier I classroom supports and Tier II and Tier III interventions. Collaborates with classroom teachers and instructional coaches to develop and implement interventions aligned with grade-level curriculum and student needs. Supports teachers in using effective instructional strategies and differentiated practices. Participates on school-based leadership and intervention teams to support systemic planning and implementation of the school's MTSS and RTI frameworks. Communicates with families, teachers, administrators, and other student-support professionals regarding student progress, as appropriate. Performs other related duties consistent with the responsibilities of the position.
