Full School Day Educational/Training/Experience/License Required:
DESE Massachusetts educator license as a Reading Specialist required. Strong knowledge of literacy development, including phonemic awareness, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension. Demonstrated ability to deliver effective reading interventions for struggling readers. Experience with MTSS frameworks and Tier 2/Tier 3 interventions. Excellent communication, organization, and collaboration skills. Commitment to fostering an inclusive and equitable learning environment. Experience with differentiated instruction and use of assessment data to drive instruction.Responsibilities:
Provide targeted, evidence-based literacy interventions for struggling readers, with a focus on closing proficiency gaps. Support the implementation of MTSS, including Tier 2 and Tier 3 reading interventions. Monitor student progress regularly and adjust interventions based on data. Support early identification and remediation of reading difficulties. Collaborate with classroom teachers to improve literacy instruction across content areas. Coach and support teachers in implementing effective literacy strategies and interventions. Administer and analyze literacy assessments to inform instruction and decision-making. Maintain accurate records of student progress and communicate regularly with students, families, and staff. Participate in team meetings, school initiatives, and ongoing professional development. Contribute to the broader school community through school-based initiatives and support.Required Qualifications:
Minimum:
Bachelors Degree Strong instructional, organizational, and communication skills. Must successfully pass a CORI background check and fingerprinting as required by Massachusetts law.DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Tahanto Regional Middle/High School is seeking a dedicated and dynamic Reading Specialist to support student literacy development across grades. The successful candidate will provide targeted, evidence-based reading interventions, support students with diverse learning needs, and work collaboratively with staff to strengthen literacy instruction schoolwide. This role is essential in improving reading proficiency, closing achievement gaps, and promoting long-term academic success across all content areas.Masters Degree in Reading, Literacy, or a related field.
Experience as a reading specialist or literacy interventionist at the middle/high school level.
Familiarity with Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks and evidence-based literacy practices.
Experience supporting diverse learners, including students with disabilities and English learners.
Background in coaching or leading professional development for staff.
