Academy:
Escuela Avancemos! is a K-8 Academy located in the heart of Southwest Detroit. We are looking for educators who will inspire our students to succeed at the highest level by educating them with love, restorative principles, and rigorous learning expectations. We invest in our educators with collaborative professional development opportunities, individualized coaching plans, and opportunities for peer-to-peer learning. We are looking for:
Delivers targeted interventions with students to increase student growth and reading achievement Reviews all pertinent literacy data to develop plans and build supports to improve reading and writing achievement that align with the district school improvement plan and MTSS framework Supports all aspects of reading assessment and progress monitoring; serves as a resource for the building with NWEA and any other relevant literacy assessments Works with building staff to effectively implement Tier I instruction and to address Tier II supports based on student needs Develops intervention plans for small groups and individual students as needed Attends professional development and provides relevant training and sharing of information with the building team Collaborates with the Superintendent for district planning and implementation of MTSS, school improvement, reading instruction, interventions, and assessments Other duties as assigned by the Superintendent
QUALIFICATIONS
: Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university Appropriate grade-level teacher certification is required; except as otherwise provided by law, the Academy shall use certificated teachers according to state board rule Reading Specialist (BR) K-12 Experience working with English Language Learners (preferred) Valid Michigan teaching certificate with ESL or Bilingual endorsement (NS or Y endorsement preferred) Demonstrated commitment to young people's learning success and achievement Demonstrated proficiency in a teaching capacity Evidence of successful experience in student and parent relations Submit to a criminal background check and be found without a record
