Special Education / Academic Interventionist - Eden Prairie & Chaska, MN Learning Designs is seeking a compassionate, experienced academic interventionist to provide individualized, in-person academic support to a middle school student with autism in Eden Prairie and Chaska, Minnesota. This is an established position with a student who has been working successfully with a Learning Designs instructor. We are seeking an educator who can provide consistent, individualized instruction in reading, math, and executive function skills while building a positive and trusting relationship with the student. The current instructor is available to assist with the transition, including sharing successful instructional strategies, progress notes, and participating in an overlapping session when possible.
POSITION DETAILS
Location:
Eden Prairie and Chaska, MN. One residence is near Highway 212 and Eden Prairie Road in Eden Prairie, and the second is approximately five miles away in Chaska.
Schedule:
Two 60-minute sessions per week. Current tutoring days are Mondays and Saturdays, with some potential scheduling flexibility.
Compensation:
$45-$50 per hour.
Setting:
In-person instruction at two family residences.
Position type:
Part-time, independent contractor.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide individualized academic intervention in reading, literacy, and math. Support executive function skills, including organization, planning, task initiation, and independent learning. Establish a positive, supportive relationship with the student while maintaining consistent instructional routines. Adapt instruction to accommodate individual learning and communication needs. Monitor academic progress and maintain accurate session notes. Communicate regularly with Learning Designs regarding student progress, instructional needs, and scheduling. Maintain consistency in instructional practices across both family residences. Collaborate with the current instructor during the transition to ensure continuity of services.
QUALIFICATIONS
Experience working with autistic students, preferably at the middle school level. Background in special education, academic intervention, or individualized academic instruction. Strong foundational knowledge of reading, literacy, and math instruction. Experience supporting students with executive function challenges. Ability to adapt instruction to meet individual learning needs. Strong communication and relationship-building skills. Patience, reliability, and a commitment to providing consistent, individualized support. Ability to travel to both family residences in Eden Prairie and Chaska. Special education teachers, academic interventionists, and educators with relevant experience supporting autistic students are encouraged to apply.
