POSITION OVERVIEW

:

REQUIRED

Wilson Reading System Level I Certification required; Level II Credential or Wilson Dyslexia Practitioner Certification preferred. Do not apply without this certification. The Wilson Reading Program Instructor provides evidence-based, systematic reading instruction to students who struggle with reading, spelling, and written language. Using the Wilson Reading System (WRS), the instructor delivers individualized or small-group lessons designed to improve phonemic awareness, decoding, encoding, fluency, vocabulary, and reading comprehension. The instructor monitors student progress, collaborates with teachers and families, and maintains accurate records to support student achievement. This role works in close partnership with the Director of Special Education, Special Education Case Manager, and General/Special Education Teachers to ensure high-quality instruction, legally compliant practices, effective service delivery, and strong family engagement.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

:

• Deliver Wilson Reading System instruction with fidelity to students in one-on-one or small-group settings.
• Assess students' reading abilities and develop individualized instructional plans.
• Monitor and document student progress through ongoing assessments and data collection.
• Adapt instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of students with reading difficulties or dyslexia.
• Collaborate with classroom teachers, special education staff, administrators, and families to support student success.
• Maintain accurate student records, lesson plans, and progress reports.
• Participate in professional development related to literacy instruction and the Wilson Reading System.
• Create a positive, engaging, and supportive learning environment.
• Communicate regularly with parents and school staff regarding student progress and instructional goals. Leadership & Collaboration
• Partner closely with the special education case managers to design, implement, and monitor high-quality special education programming and inclusive practices.
• Serve as a member of the school's Special Education Team.
• Collaborate with grade-level teams, interventionists, counselors, deans, and the MTSS staff to ensure unified service delivery. Compliance & Accountability
• Ensure full compliance with IDEA, Section 504, PA Chapter 14/15, FERPA, and school policies.
• Oversee all IEP and 504 Plan implementation in the daily routines of students with special needs.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation and contact log in IEPWriter (or Skyward) and ensure all mandated services are delivered.
• Collaborate with the IEP team of procedures for evaluation referrals, reevaluations, eligibility, discipline protections, and manifestation determinations.
• Ensure paraprofessionals meet their assignments of students with integrity and proper care of students. Program Design & Instructional Quality
• Support co-teaching models, small-group instruction, intervention delivery, and accommodations/modifications.
• Support case managers with caseload assignments, scheduling, and service delivery to ensure alignment with student needs.
• Provide coaching, feedback, and professional development to special education teachers, related service providers, and PCAs. Family & Community Engagement
• Serve as the primary point of contact for deans regarding special education and 504 services.
• Support IEP and 504 meetings, ensuring meaningful family participation.
• Communicate clearly, proactively, and empathetically with families with concerns. Staff Development
• Assist with the recruitment, hiring, and onboarding of special education personnel.
• Support team to design and facilitate ongoing professional development aligned to teacher needs, data trends, and compliance requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required

• Bachelor's degree in Education, Special Education, Reading, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
• Wilson Reading System Level I Certification required; Level II Credential or Wilson Dyslexia Practitioner Certification preferred.
• Experience working with students with dyslexia, reading disabilities, or language-based learning differences.
• Knowledge of structured literacy and the science of reading.
• Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to analyze assessment data and adjust instruction accordingly. Preferred
• Experience in K-8 educational settings.
• Familiarity with IEP goals and special education procedures.
• Strong classroom management and relationship-building skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Proficiency with educational technology and student data management systems.

WORK SCHEDULE

This is a part-time- 10-month position.

COMPENSATION

Commensurate with experience and qualifications, as outlined by the school's salary scale.

$27.95 - $40.00 per hour
