Description:
Literacy Intervention Responsibilities Provide intensive, evidence-based reading interventions aligned to the science of reading, including phonological awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension, as required under the SC Read to Succeed Act. Identify and serve students who struggle to comprehend grade-level text, ensuring early support in accordance with R2S statutes. Administer universal screeners, formative assessments, and progress monitoring tools; analyze results to guide instruction. Collaborate with classroom teachers to implement intervention plans and share strategies that strengthen Tier I instruction. Communicate with families about student reading needs, intervention goals, and recommended home supports, as required by R2S parent notification policies. Participate in the state-required LETRS or approved R2S professional development for educators delivering literacy instruction or interventions. Perform any other duties as assigned by the supervisor/administrator
Requirements:
Required Qualifications Valid South Carolina teaching certificate in an appropriate certification field. Knowledge of evidence-based reading and math instructional strategies. Experience implementing small-group intervention or
RTI/MTSS
supports. Willingness to complete mandated Read to Succeed (R2S) Literacy Teacher coursework or LETRS training, if applicable to assigned grade levels. Preferred Qualifications Experience delivering reading interventions aligned with the science of reading. Experience using math manipulatives, formative assessments, and intervention curricula. Training in LETRS, Fountas & Pinnell, DIBELS, Acadience, i-Ready, MAP, or similar programs. Strong data analysis and progress monitoring skills.
