Sylvan Learning Center is looking for fun, dedicated teachers to help and inspire students. We are currently looking for elementary, middle school, and high school reading and English tutors who are able to teach reading and writing at a variety of grade levels. Sylvan creates individualized learning plans for students of all abilities. Working with well-behaved groups of only three students, our reading, writing and English tutors are responsible for leading instruction and motivating students to be successful. There are no lesson plans to create, no homework to grade, no parent-conferencing, and scheduling is flexible. Enjoy all of the benefits of teaching ELA, without any of the downsides! What you should know If you enjoy teaching, working with, and inspiring students, this is the job for you. (We want you to be happy here!) You will use pre-planned lessons. They are straightforward, easy to manage, and fun to teach Teach students in a small group setting. There will be no more than 3 students per teacher Most teachers choose to work 2-5 days/week This is NOT a remote position Job Requirements Four year degree or equivalent required State or provincial teaching credentials (current or expired) Minimum of one or two years of teaching experience preferred Knowledge of phonics and reading comprehension preferred for reading teachers Ability to multi-task Knowledge of tablet computers preferred Benefits Competitive Pay Paid training and opportunities for professional development Flexible part-time work hours.
