Job Description

General Statement of Duties Meets reading team administrative needs and supports student reading abilities. Essential Duties
  • Schedules reading services and coordinates logistical needs.
  • Under supervision, facilitates reading sessions for individuals and small groups using approved plans and materials.
  • Encourages students to develop reading confidence and to be academically successful.
  • May administer approved assessment tools.
  • Collects data and forwards to the Specialist or Teacher for attendance, assessment, or other purposes.
  • Communicates effectively with students, staff, parents, administrators, volunteers, community partners, and others.
  • Prepares and maintains records.
  • Assists certified professionals with creation, organization, and distribution of materials.
  • May assist instructors with classroom management and organization.
  • Demonstrates appropriate use of technology to support instruction and student learning.
  • Models appropriate behaviors in all professional interactions.
  • Follows instructions, policies, procedures, Standards of Learning, Virginia Literacy Act, and other guidelines.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Attends work daily and is on task - regular attendance is required Working under supervision, the Assistant provides broad support to the Reading Intervention Team. They handle administrative needs, and assist with reading services planning, implementation, and data collection. This non-instructional role also provides direct support to students in schools requiring intensive intervention efforts. Certified professionals train and provide regular supportive supervision to the Assistant. Additional Information Annual salary will be prorated based upon actual work begin date. Henrico County Schools reserves the right to begin screening applications and make a selection at any time during the posting period. Minimum Requirements Education and Experience:
Associates degree or passing score on ParaPro Assessment is required. Reading-related coursework and experience with students in a K-12 setting is preferred. Or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
