Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required Minimum:
Must hold an undergraduate degree in a STEM field with research, internship, or other STEM-related work experience; exceptional applicants nearing completion of undergraduate degree may be considered.Preferred:
Progress toward or completion of a graduate degree in a STEM field or comparable work experience. Prior experience teaching, coaching, or mentoring youth preferred. Reasonable schedule flexibility to accommodate working in multiple schools with various start and end times. Excellent communication skills (in-person, video call, and via email). Ability to develop positive rapport with colleagues and diverse stakeholders, including, but not limited to, students, teachers, school leaders, and other school staff. Ability to effectively present science lessons in a classroom setting and move about the classroom to distribute/collect materials and interact with students for a full school day. Ability to effectively utilize team collaboration tools such as Google Workspace, Zoom, and Slack. Valid driver's license and/or access to a reliable form of transportation to get to school sites. Occasional lifting of curriculum kits (5-25lbs). Accommodations can be made if needed. Clearance on background check. Upon hiring, Scientist Educators will be required to pass any additional background checks, as required per state of employment and by partner schools.
