25 time Chemistry teacher beginning in August 2026. This teacher would teach one section of Physical Chemistry during the Fall semester and one section of Organic Chemistry during the Spring semester. Each class will have about 14-16 students. As both courses are senior electives, these will be our most enthusiastic and committed young chemists, students excited to deepen the robust exploration that they began in our required 10th grade course. The College Prep science program prioritizes rigor, critical thinking, and hands-on learning. Students are required to take Physics in 9 grade, Chemistry in 10 grade, and Biology in 11th grade. Nearly all of our students choose to take one or more science electives in 12th grade. Designed to prepare students for the depth and complexity of college-level courses, these include Anatomy and Physiology, Molecular Genetics, Organic Chemistry, Physical Chemistry, Astronomy, Marine Biology, and Mechanics, Electricity, and Magnetism (among others). Science teachers share a spacious, cozy, and convivial office where they regularly collaborate with one another and meet with students as needed.
A qualified candidate will:
Have a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or Physics Be prepared to teach Physical and Organic Chemistry Have a minimum of three years experience teaching Science to students at the secondary or college level Have a strong interest in working in a multicultural community Be eager to embrace spirited intellectual challenges in a rewarding academic environment Have patience, flexibility and a good sense of humor Have an infectious and inspiring enthusiasm for Chemistry Candidates should be eager to spend additional time getting to know and help students outside of the classroom. Faculty at College Prep are compensated according to a step scale based on years of experience that ranges from $74,000 for teachers with no prior relevant experience to $148,500 for teachers with 44 years of prior experience.
