A Science Teacher teaches in the natural science fields for elementary to secondary school students. Most science courses taught prior to high school are general, with specialization occurring later in high school. Teachers may teach specialized courses in physics, biology or chemistry. Other topics taught include physical science, computer science, astronomy, and geology.

The Science Guys of San Diego are seeking a part time science teacher to join our team to lead various science programs throughout San Diego. After School Science Clubs (Starting August/September 2026) : Lead after school clubs at a variety of schools throughout San Diego and surrounding counties. Science Summer Camps (Summer 2027) : Lead science summer camps at a variety of locations throughout San Diego. Science Parties (Ongoing) : Assist with and lead science parties at a variety of locations throughout San Diego.
Responsibilities :
Complete classroom management training, provided by the Science Guys of San Diego. Prior to each week, pick up lessons plans and supplies from the science lab, located in Imperial Beach. Complete necessary training on lessons at the science lab, located in Imperial Beach. Read and prepare for lessons with the provided lesson plans. Ensure content and material knowledge. Travel to your assigned location each day, located in different areas throughout San Diego and surrounding counties. Set up the classroom and supplies before the students arrive. Collect students from designated locations. Take attendance. Follow lesson plans, teach lessons, and engage and assist all students. Maintain classroom management. Ensure the health and safety of all students. Maintain positive relationships with all students, parents, and schools. Be the FUN teacher everyone looks forward to seeing! Ensure that all students are picked up by parents/guardians or sent to assigned locations at the end of the class/day. Clean up the supplies. Ensure that the science bins are organized, clean, and left as they were found. Clean up the classroom. Ensure that desks are wiped, desks are orderly, trash is thrown away, and classroom is left the way it was found. At the end of each week, return all supplies to the science lab, located in Imperial Beach.
Qualifications :
Previous experience working with elementary students, ages 4 - 12. Strong classroom management skills. Ability to build rapport and relationships with students. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong leadership qualities, patience, and understanding when working with children. Consistent professionalism, including punctuality, cleanliness, clear communication, and attentiveness. Excellent organizational and time management skills. Strong public speaking and presentation skills. High energy, bubbly attitude, positive personality. 18 years or older and qualified to work in the USA. Comfortable taking a background check. Speaks English fluently. Reliable transportation. Ability to lift 50 lbs.
