Full Job Description Position Description:
High School Math and Science Teacher San Gabriel Mission High School, a Catholic college preparatory school for young women in San Gabriel, California, is seeking a dynamic and passionate full-time Math and Science Teacher for the 2026-2027 academic year. This position offers an inspiring opportunity to cultivate a love of learning while advancing academic excellence and faith formation. The ideal candidate will bring enthusiasm, strong content knowledge, and innovative teaching practices to engage students across a broad range of mathematics and science disciplines. Rooted in the traditions and values of the Catholic Church, our educators are committed to forming young women as critical thinkers, problem-solvers, and compassionate leaders. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong organizational and classroom management skills, effective communication with all stakeholders, and a commitment to meeting the needs of diverse learners through thoughtful planning and differentiation.
Primary Responsibilities include:
Designing and implementing rigorous, standards-based curriculum in mathematics and science, including courses such as Algebra, Geometry, Precalculus, Calculus, Biology, Chemistry, and Physics, including Honors and Advanced Placement (AP), as applicable Delivering engaging, student-centered instruction that fosters critical thinking, scientific inquiry, and problem-solving skills Developing and administering assessments, including standardized measures, and providing timely, meaningful feedback to support student growth Incorporating instructional technology and digital tools to enhance learning and engagement Facilitating laboratory experiments, research projects, and hands-on scientific investigations while ensuring proper lab safety protocols Maintaining accurate and timely records, including regular gradebook updates Supporting the academic, social, and spiritual development of students, educating the whole person—mind, body, and spirit Managing classroom behavior effectively while fostering a respectful, inclusive, and collaborative environment Collaborating with colleagues on curriculum alignment, interdisciplinary initiatives, and best instructional practices Providing academic advising and mentorship to support students' educational goals and personal growth Actively participating in the faith life and mission of the school community
Qualifications Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Science, or a related field Minimum of two years of high school teaching experience Strong content knowledge across mathematics and/or science disciplines Proficiency in instructional technology and platforms such as Google Classroom and Aeries Commitment to the mission, values, and teachings of the
Catholic Church and San Gabriel Mission High School Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree in a related field Valid California Teaching Credential (Single Subject or equivalent) Experience teaching Honors and/or Advanced Placement (AP) courses Background in laboratory research, scientific investigation, or real-world applications of STEM fields Commitment to ongoing professional development and collaboration Experience in Catholic school education is preferred Compensation Salary ranges from $47,402 to $65,000 annually and is commensurate with experience, education, and professional credentials, in alignment with Archdiocese of Los Angeles guidelines. Placement within the range is based on internal policy, budget considerations, and candidate qualifications.
