Division Instruction Department Earth, Engineering & Physical Sciences Opening Date 04/10/2026 Closing Date 5/3/2026 11:59 PM Pacific Description Benefits Questions Job Description Summary The Chemistry Department at Cuesta College, a two-year community college, announces the opportunity to interview to establish a pool of approved Chemistry instructors for possible part-time teaching assignments in the Earth, Engineering, and Physical Sciences Division. This position will be primarily focused on teaching Introductory and General Chemistry courses. Assignments may be day or evening classes, at any of the Cuesta College sites within San Luis Obispo County, and/or in any modality. The ideal candidate will exhibit a passion for educating Cuesta College's racially and socio-economically diverse student population. We are searching for people who will enthusiastically engage their students and work collaboratively with other faculty to promote student success. Desirable candidates will be innovative, team-oriented, and supportive individuals with recent experience in teaching chemistry. - Master's in chemistry from an accredited institution; OR
- Bachelor's in chemistry or biochemistry from an accredited institution AND Master's in biochemistry, chemical engineering, chemical physics, physics, molecular biology or geochemistry from an accredited institution; OR
- The equivalent. (Candidates applying on the basis of equivalency must submit all materials requested for an equivalency judgment. For directions on what is an acceptable equivalency argument please review the requirements listed on the HR Website .) OR
- A valid Community College credential in the discipline (If received prior to 1990, as the credential is no longer being issued).
Also Required:
- Sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.
Desirable:
- Teaching experience in the discipline, community college level preferred;
- Awareness of the philosophy and objectives of California Community Colleges.

All regular full-time faculty members and full-time temporary faculty members are required to enroll in at least the minimum medical coverage. Every new regular full-time faculty member/full-time temporary faculty member must enroll when they are first eligible, which is the first of the month following their date of hire. A part-time faculty member who is eligible, but does not wish to participate in the District's medical insurance benefit program must complete a Declination of Coverage form.
