Middle School Teachers (Math and Science) for 2026-2027

Exempt Reports to: Middle School Director, Head of School Position Purpose Provides an educational setting for the teaching of assigned middle school classes in any subject area while offering a superior education—academically, spiritually, and socially—in a structured, positive environment in the tradition of Catholic education. Duties and Responsibilities Demonstrate strong teaching skills aligned with the middle school curriculum and student developmental needs. Follow the school's mission, procedures, and policies in administrative and educational matters as set forth by the Head of School and Board of Directors. Lead students in prayer and nurture them in the development of a Christian-based character. Plan and implement daily curriculum for assigned subject areas. Provide daily instruction to students. Meet minimum learning objectives for the grade levels taught: teach, assess, and re-teach using a variety of materials and resources appropriate to the learning situation until reasonable mastery is achieved. Conduct observations, evaluations, testing, reporting, conferencing, and record keeping for each student. Organize classroom structure and maintain an orderly classroom environment on a daily basis. Maintain an attractive, educationally relevant classroom environment that supports the units and themes being taught. Establish and maintain positive working relationships with staff and parents. Manage classroom discipline and student behavior in accordance with the school's discipline policy. Submit weekly lesson plans to the Director of Middle School or designee when requested. Keep daily lesson plans easily accessible for use by a substitute teacher; maintain a current, updated substitute file with general schedule and seating information. Guide and support education assistants and/or volunteers in their classroom roles when appropriate. Ensure the safety and health of students in the classroom and during school activities. Participate in parent/family school events as scheduled or requested by the Head of School. Assist in the planning and implementation of school programs and special events as requested and required. Set up the classroom prior to the opening of school and complete year-end classroom clean-up. Communicate curriculum and classroom activity information to parents on a regular basis. Plan for and communicate supply needs in a timely manner. Conduct oneself in a professional and Christian manner both in and out of the classroom. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in a related field required; advanced degree preferred. Current and valid Florida Teaching Certificate applicable to middle school subject/grades taught, or active progress toward obtaining such certification. Completion of required VIRTUS training (upon hire). Ability to move about the school building(s) and campus. Ability to communicate effectively and positively with parents, students, administration, and individuals with a variety of personality styles. Physical Demands and Working Conditions The following are examples of the physical aspects of this position necessary to carry out its essential functions.
Physical Demands:
Walking, looking downward, turning neck, sitting, bending, standing, stooping, squatting, reaching, pushing, and pulling. Infrequent climbing; grasping and manipulating materials and supplies; lifting and carrying items up to twenty (20) pounds; and the use of sight, hearing, and speaking.
Working Conditions:
Indoor classrooms with exposure to student noise and music, food and science-related odors, possible communicable diseases, and occasionally unruly students. Outdoor schoolyard and playgrounds with exposure to varying temperatures, dust, rain, wind, and pesticides.
