About Mystic Valley Regional Charter School (MVRCS) Founded in 1998, Mystic Valley Regional Charter School (MVRCS) is a high-performing public K-12 charter school located in Malden, Massachusetts, serving over 1,750 students. Student success at MVRCS is driven by exceptional educators, a carefully selected and faithfully implemented curriculum, high expectations, and a commitment to traditional pedagogy. MVRCS is consistently ranked among the top public schools in Massachusetts, New England, and across the nation. Our graduates achieve outstanding success at the post-secondary level, reflecting the strong academic foundation built during their time at Mystic Valley. Students in Grades K-12 attend school in dress code for 200 instructional days each year and benefit from an extended school day, approximately 60 minutes longer than most traditional public schools. These elements enable MVRCS to deliver on its mission of providing all students with access to a world-class education.
Position Overview:
Grades 7-12 Science Teacher Full-Time | Malden, MA MVRCS is seeking a knowledgeable and dedicated Science Teacher for Grades K-12. The ideal candidate is passionate about science education and committed to delivering rigorous, content-rich instruction in a structured and supportive classroom environment. Instruction is aligned with the Core Knowledge curriculum and methodology, with opportunities to teach within the International Baccalaureate (IB) program at the high school level. Key Responsibilities Implement the Science curriculum in Grades K-12, including Core Knowledge and, where applicable, IB coursework Teach up to five classes daily, each aligned with established curriculum and instructional expectations Deliver engaging, standards-aligned lessons with clear and measurable learning objectives Assess student progress regularly and provide timely feedback through progress reports and report cards Administer standardized assessments as directed by the Science Department Chair and Leadership Team Collaborate weekly with colleagues in the Science Department to align curriculum, analyze data, and refine instructional practices Maintain a structured classroom environment using the school's discipline model Participate in staff meetings and ongoing professional development Perform additional responsibilities as assigned by the Science Department Chair and/or Assistant Director Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Physics, Biology, or General Science required Strong written and verbal communication skills Ability to analyze data, assess student performance, and adjust instruction accordingly Demonstrated ability to build and maintain positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues Strong organizational and time management skills Collaborative mindset and ability to work effectively within a team environment Deep content knowledge in the relevant scientific discipline Ability to design and implement lessons aligned with school and curricular goals Experience evaluating student performance and communicating findings clearly Successful completion of applicable MTEL exams within one year of employment Additional Information This position reports to the Science Department Chair Annual appointment with yearly performance evaluation Equal Opportunity Employer Mystic Valley Regional Charter School is an equal opportunity employer.
