Oxford Community Schools Secondary Science Teacher (6-12) Oxford Virtual Academy 2026-27School Year Primary Function :
To provide an effective instructional program for students that adheres to the district's vision, goals, and objectives. To ensure that all students learn the basic and essential skills as outlined in district, state, and federal guidelines. Qualifications â€"Education & Experience :
Valid Michigan Department of Education certification with Science (DI or DX) endorsement. Minimum of a bachelor's degree. Skill and ability to successfully work with students in a hybrid learning and virtual environment. Experience delivering individual and small group interventions in person and virtually. Preference will be given to applicants who have experience working in virtual programs. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.Essential Duties & Responsibilities :
Oversee student progress of all registered courses. Hold regular classroom lab time. Act as the initial point of contact for student technical questions. Utilize digital curriculum and other resources to deliver educational programming to students Coach students through their learning process to ensure that students are at target progress. Evaluate student learning and implement interventions as necessary. Deliver small group and individual instruction in a virtual or hybrid setting. Plan and implement a program of instruction that adheres to the district's vision, goals, and objectives as outlined in the adopted course curriculum. Effectively meet the needs of students with a variety of learning styles, ability levels, and education/linguistic backgrounds. Keep current in subject matter knowledge and learning theory through coursework, in-service programs, and by attending professional development activities. Engage parents and students in the learning process through frequent and meaningful communications. Work collaboratively with parents to support students as they learn from home and other non-traditional learning environments. Participate in building and district level activities, staff meetings, professional development activities, program meetings, and other educational planning meetings for assigned students. Maintain up-to-date and accurate records of student progress and attendance in accordance with district policies, procedures, and pupil accounting guidelines. Establish and maintain cooperative relationships with staff members. Openly support and abide by all school policies and procedures. Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
