Job Description

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

Requires candidates to have or be working towards an endorsement appropriate to the position.

The teacher is responsible for fulfilling the obligations and reflecting the philosophies outlined in contract, state and federal law, and the policies, regulations, and rules of the Bellevue Public Schools. The teacher is responsible for providing to students appropriate and effective instruction, a positive role model, and a safe and healthy environment in which to achieve to their maximum potential.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Effectively apply professional competencies to meet the minimum standards as adopted by the State Board of Education and the Selected Evaluation Criteria of the Bellevue Public Schools.
  • Follow the Code of Ethics adopted by the State Board of Education.
  • Know and follow all policies, rules, regulations, and directives of the district and the principal or administrator in the building where employed.
  • Exhibit character and moral standards, and personal habits that are temperate in nature, and are such that they may be emulated by the youth of the community.
  • Exhibit mental and physical health adequate to meet the responsibilities of the position held.
  • Devote a satisfactory measure of time and energy to the duties assigned and to the business of the school.
  • Maintain a positive relationship with patrons, employees, and students in daily
    work activities.
  • Conduct oneself both in and out of school in such a manner as to avoid
    reflecting grave discredit upon the school, the district, or the employee.
  • Conduct oneself morally and within the limits established in law for the continuation of professional educator contracts.
  • Conduct supervisory responsibilities of students or other employees in a manner which is not cruel.
  • Fulfill the responsibilities of teaching as defined in state law.
  • Fulfill responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor/administrator.
  • This position is subject to a veterans preference.
