Job Description

Saint Anselm College, a Catholic, liberal arts college in the Benedictine tradition, invites applications for a Biology Laboratory Instructional Staff in the Department of Biology. This is a 9.5-month position (mid-August to late May) with full benefits to start immediately.
Job Summary:
The Laboratory Instructional Staff are integral parts of the Biology lab staff. The Laboratory Staff prepare, set-up and break down academic labs under the direction of the Lab Supervisor. Duties will include preparing solutions, reagents, and microbiological media, and cleaning and restocking lab supplies. In addition, the Laboratory Staff will instruct lab sections (maximum of 15 contact hours per week) under the Course Professor including light grading, such as lab sheets, lab notebooks, or lab quizzes.
Job Description and Responsibilities:
Direct report to the Biology Laboratory Supervisor Teach assigned lab sections under the direction of Course Professor of Record Maximum of 15 contact hours per semester, 3 different lab preparations, with no more than 2 new preps per semester Grading of lab assignments, such as quizzes, completion checks, and lab notebook grading. Lab Reports are not included, and will be graded by the professor. Prepare, set up and break down lab supplies as per Professor-submitted Lab Requests Maintain clean, organized lab rooms Job runs from approximately August 15th to May 31st Job Requirements Bachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry, or other related science field Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills Microsoft Office competence, able to learn other programs/apps such as Workday with appropriate training Ability to safely lift 35 pounds and handle preserved specimens Ability to work during the academic year, with PTO only taken when it does not conflict with class time
