Job Description
Math, Science, and Electives Teacher Hope For Youth is the leading provider of integrated, complex care for cross system children, youth, and families on Long Island. Hope For Youth provides a full-day accredited education program within two (2) structured classrooms at our Amityville location for youth in its programs. In addition, the Education Program provides support to clients attending their local public school the education staff also provides support and guidance for residents in achieving goals outside the classroom including internships, vocational opportunities, and other community involvement. The Education team consists of full-time and part-time employees, who work through an academic school year. How will you generally spend your time in this job : Teach to the curriculum of secondary math and science. Implement appropriate instruction/learning strategies and activities, including determining appropriate kind and level of materials. Utilize a variety of instructional materials and available multimedia and computer technology to enhance learning. Assess students' abilities, strengths and weaknesses Supervise/monitor student's behavior in the classroom Organize and maintain a system of accurate and complete record-keeping, lesson planning, grading and reporting. Work collaboratively with the other teachers to ensure that all students are successfully progressing through the program Participate in Education, DES and NSD staff meetings Other program and agency related needs
