Job Description
Part-Time Chemistry Teacher Willamette Valley Academy is seeking an experienced part-time Chemistry Teacher to join our faculty. We are looking for an educator with strong subject-matter expertise and a passion for inspiring academically advanced students through rigorous, engaging, and inquiry-based science instruction. This position primarily supports advanced science courses for gifted and high-achieving students in Grades 7-12 , including: Introduction to Chemistry / Honors Chemistry , with the opportunity to teach AP Chemistry Introduction to Biology Schedule & Compensation The anticipated teaching schedule is Monday through Friday between 9:00 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. , with the potential for additional hours based on enrollment and program needs. This position is compensated based on assigned instructional hours. Responsibilities Plan and deliver engaging, academically rigorous instruction in Chemistry and Biology. Adapt instruction to challenge gifted and advanced learners at different levels. Incorporate laboratory investigations, quantitative reasoning, and real-world scientific applications into instruction. Prepare and administer assessments to evaluate student understanding and academic progress. Provide timely feedback, grading, and progress reporting. Build positive and professional relationships with students, families, faculty, and school leadership. Communicate with families regarding student progress and academic needs as appropriate. Collaborate with faculty on curriculum, student placement, and academic programming. Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and other school activities as needed. Qualifications & Skills Strong academic background in Chemistry, Biology, or a closely related field . Prior teaching experience in Chemistry, Biology, or advanced secondary science preferred. Strong command of Chemistry content and ability to teach concepts with depth and clarity. Ability to engage and challenge gifted and academically advanced students. Experience with laboratory-based science instruction preferred. Excellent communication, organization, and classroom management skills. Ability to collaborate effectively with students, families, faculty, and school leadership. Commitment to WVA's academic standards, policies, and educational mission. Advanced degrees and professional or research experience in Chemistry or related scientific fields are highly valued.
