Job Description

Math & Physics Teacher — Middle & High School Willamette Valley Academy | Beaverton, Oregon Full-Time or Part-Time | Immediate Opening Willamette Valley Academy (WVA) is seeking an engaging and experienced Math & Physics Teacher to join our middle and high school faculty immediately. WVA serves academically motivated students, including many advanced learners working above grade level in mathematics and science. We are looking for a teacher who combines strong subject knowledge with excellent classroom teaching skills —someone who can explain challenging concepts clearly, engage students in problem-solving, and inspire them to think deeply. Candidates with strength in either mathematics or physics are also encouraged to apply , as WVA may consider separate teaching assignments for the right candidates. Responsibilities Teach middle and high school mathematics and/or physics courses based on experience and school needs. Potential courses include Algebra, Geometry, Algebra II, Precalculus, Calculus, Physics, and AP Physics . Deliver clear, engaging, and appropriately challenging instruction. Develop students' conceptual understanding, mathematical reasoning, and problem-solving skills. Incorporate demonstrations, experiments, and applications where appropriate in physics courses. Assess student progress and provide timely feedback. Support advanced and gifted learners at varying academic levels. Collaborate with WVA's math and science faculty. Qualifications Bachelor's degree or higher in Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, or a closely related field . Strong command of mathematics and/or physics. Prior classroom teaching experience strongly preferred. Demonstrated ability to explain complex concepts clearly and engage middle and high school students. Experience teaching advanced mathematics, physics, or AP-level courses is a plus. Strong communication, organization, and classroom management skills. Enthusiasm for working with academically motivated and advanced students. Position Details Full-time or part-time opportunities available , depending on qualifications, experience, and availability. Immediate start preferred. Part-time candidates may teach specific math and/or physics courses based on their areas of expertise and availability.
