A Science Teacher teaches in the natural science fields for elementary to secondary school students. Most science courses taught prior to high school are general, with specialization occurring later in high school. Teachers may teach specialized courses in physics, biology or chemistry. Other topics taught include physical science, computer science, astronomy, and geology.

Cupola Academy is a secular, educational community that values applied academics, collaboration, purposeful learning, and intrinsic motivation. We are located on a 10-acre campus in Malvern, Pennsylvania. Young people learn through inquiry, authentic experiences, project-based learning, reflection, and revision.
POSITION OVERVIEW
This position offers significant professional autonomy, allowing the Science Facilitator to design engaging, inquiry-driven science experiences for young people using our campus, outdoor spaces, makerspace, and community resources. Rather than following a prescribed curriculum, facilitators help young people investigate questions, test ideas, engineer solutions, and think critically about the natural world .
SCHEDULE AND COMMUNITY COMMITMENTS
This position is in person and requires approximately 1.5 days per week on Tuesdays and Thursdays (9:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m.) . Additional commitments include a week-long staff development, program preparation, and a handful of community events. A complete calendar will be provided during the interview process.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Design and facilitate hands-on, inquiry-driven science experiences for three different groups (broken up by grades; 4th/5th, 6th/7th, 8th/9th);. Use experiments, engineering challenges, field investigations, data analysis, and project-based learning to develop scientific thinking; Differentiate experiences for varied ages, abilities, interests, and learning needs; Maintain safe and organized indoor and outdoor learning environments, and provide meaningful written feedback; Collaborate with fellow facilitators on interdisciplinary curriculum, community events, reflection, and program development.
IDEAL QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in a scientific discipline, science education, or a related field required; master's degree preferred. Experience working with upper-elementary and middle-school-aged young people. Strong organizational, communication, and technology skills, including Google Workspace. Teaching certification is not required. Experience in schools, camps, museums, outdoor education, makerspaces, laboratories, or other informal learning environments is highly valued.
