Position Overview:
The Physics Teacher will teach 11th and 12th grade physics courses at Chesterton Academy of Wichita Falls, delivering instruction within a classical, Catholic framework. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in physics, a deep appreciation for the beauty and order of the natural world, and the ability to inspire students through clear, engaging instruction. This is a part-time position (approximately 5 hours per week), involving lesson planning, instruction, and student support. The teacher is expected to foster intellectual curiosity, emphasize disciplined reasoning, and help students understand physics as both a rigorous science and a pathway to wonder.
Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement effective lessons embodying classical teaching principles.
  • Build appropriate relationships with the students that develop a passion for learning and a love for God and others.
  • Implement an engaging curriculum for class.
  • Provide constructive feedback and guidance to students on their performances and projects.
  • Collaborate with other arts faculty and school staff to integrate Physics into interdisciplinary projects.
  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and performance evaluations.
  • Effectively assess the academic, moral, and spiritual growth of the students.
  • Be sensitive to academic and behavioral concerns as they are developing and intervene immediately.
  • Demonstrate effective classroom management skills.
  • Communicate frequently with students and their parents.
  • Create a welcoming, nurturing, and age-appropriate classroom environment.
  • Diligently enforce all school policies.
  • Effectively supervise students during non-academic periods such as lunch, chapel, or study halls. Requirements
  • Practicing Roman Catholic and demonstrate a commitment to Catholic secondary education (Preferred)
  • Bachelor's degree in Science, or a related field (Master's degree preferred)
  • 2+ years teaching experience in a classical school environment (Preferred)
  • Resilient and adaptable and possess strong time management and organizational skills
  • Committed to the mission of Chesterton Schools Network and the teachings of the Catholic Church.
  • An understanding of and adherence to Chesterton Academy's mission, philosophy of education, and organizational culture
  • Effective interpersonal skills including the ability to interface with students, parents, colleagues and administrators with grace, sensitivity, and flexibility
  • The ability to collaborate successfully with faculty, staff and the school board
  • Strong knowledge of theater history, dramatic literature, and various theatrical styles and techniques
  • Passion for working with high school students and fostering their artistic development.
