DESCRIPTION
Madison District Public Schools is seeking a full-time Secondary Math/Science Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a passion for science education and inspire students to explore, question, and understand the world around them. The successful candidate will be committed to fostering scientific inquiry, critical thinking, problem-solving, and hands-on learning experiences while building positive relationships with students and supporting diverse learning needs.
QUALIFICATIONS
Valid Michigan teaching certificate with appropriate Math endorsement (EX) and Science endorsement (DX, DI, DA, DC, DE, or other applicable secondary science endorsement) Demonstrated knowledge of Michigan Mathematics Standards, Michigan Science Standards, and Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) practices Knowledge of effective instructional practices and curriculum development Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with students, parents, and staff Strong communication, technology, and organizational skills Competency in student management and supervision Ability to maintain a safe and effective laboratory learning environment
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop and implement engaging lesson plans aligned with district curriculum and state standards. Utilize a variety of instructional strategies, laboratory experiences, and inquiry-based learning opportunities to support student achievement. Assess student progress through formative and summative assessments and use data to inform instruction. Provide timely and constructive feedback to students and families regarding academic progress. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student performance, attendance, and communication. Create a positive, inclusive, and student-centered learning environment that promotes curiosity, collaboration, and scientific thinking. Ensure proper use, maintenance, and safety of laboratory equipment, materials, and procedures. Collaborate with colleagues, administrators, and families to support student success and achievement. Participate in professional learning opportunities and district initiatives to improve instructional practices. Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by their supervisor.
