Job Description

Purpose Statement The job of Instructional Assistant - Computer Lab was established for the purpose/s of maintaining operation of overall computer lab; providing recommendations regarding potential software application purchases; complementing classroom instruction with software applications and computer technology; providing written support and/or conveying information regarding instructional materials. This job reports to Principal Essential Functions Assists students and teachers for the purpose of complementing classroom instruction with a variety of software applications and the use of computer technology. Attends workshops and seminars for the purpose of keeping abreast of computer and software updates. Coordinates student testing (e.g. sets up labs, troubleshoots software, monitors students, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring that procedures and guidelines are followed. Coordinates students, teachers and technical support personnel for the purpose of maintaining computer lab operations. Installs computer software applications for the purpose of providing instructional materials for student and teacher use. Monitors students (e.g. internet usage, computer lab behavior, etc.) for the purpose of providing a safe and positive learning environment. Prepares documentation (e.g. daily usage, various reports, requisitions, instructions, memos, etc.) for the purpose of documenting activities, providing written reference and/or conveying information. Researches software applications for the purpose of providing recommendations regarding potential applications appropriate for student level. Troubleshoots hardware and software applications and problems while maintaining applications (e.g. runs updates, replaces printer cartridges, reviews functions, etc.) for the purpose of determining appropriate actions to maintain computer lab operations and ensuring that computers and programs are available for student and teacher use Other Functions Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
