Instructor Position Description:
True North HealthWorks (TNHW) is seeking instructors to deliver a medical career exploration program (Junior Medical Academy) to participants aged TK through 12th grade. Instructors will teach programs for TNHW at a single site for 6-week periods with up to 25 participants. Instructors will be responsible for reviewing lesson material beforehand, preparing materials and the space for student learning, and be responsible for all clean-up of materials and storing supplies on site.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Attend mandatory instructor training and session debriefs
  • Set-up learning area each class for best learning experience
  • Utilize lesson plans to engage and captivate students
  • Give feedback to Site Lead and TNHW Program Managers on student usage of program and engagement levels
  • Instructors are required to keep learning supplies in good working condition
  • Clean-up learning supplies and store in storage containers for pick-up after each class
  • Collaborate with instructional aide (TK-3 cohort) to ensure clear execution of program activities for participants
  • Accompany and supervise participants on field trips
  • Follow all rules and regulations for client locations and TNHW
  • Support the programs end of session events
  • Manage classroom behavior of JMA participants
  • Coordinate with local onsite afterschool leadership
  • Input attendance daily and data requests, as required
Requirements:
  • A.A./A.S.
    Degree or 45 college units or capability of passing required knowledge test
  • Excellent verbal communication skills
  • Medical career experience preferred
  • Teaching or classroom experience
  • Ability to engage students
  • Ability to pass TB test and background check with fingerprinting
