Weekday afternoons and weekends About the Position DIG Chess is hiring part-time children's chess coaches to lead fun and engaging chess classes in Weston, Westport, and Fairfield. You do not need to be an advanced or competitive chess player. We care more about finding someone who is dependable, responsible, energetic, and excellent with children. Applicants should understand the basics of chess and be comfortable learning our curriculum. Responsibilities Teach beginner-friendly chess classes to children Create a fun, positive, and encouraging environment Follow the DIG Chess curriculum and lesson plans Manage groups of students and keep them engaged Arrive on time and prepared for every class Communicate reliably with the DIG Chess team Set up and organize chess materials before and after class Requirements Must have a car and reliable transportation Must be available during weekday afternoons and/or weekends Must be dependable, responsible, patient, and energetic Must enjoy working with children Must understand the basic rules of chess Must be able to pass a background check Preferred Experience Experience in teaching, tutoring, childcare, summer camps, after-school programs, coaching, or working with children is preferred but not required.
