POSITION SUMMARY
Teach and develop curriculum in support of the Children's Discovery Center's Discovery Camp program. Discovery Camp is a full day program that runs 8:30am-4:00pm during school breaks. Must be able to teach classes, write curriculum and facilitate play with students in our exhibit galleries. This is a part-time position with the opportunity for full-time employment.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Develop and teach curriculum for the Center's Discovery Camp program.
  • Teach classes with confident classroom management skills using positive language and a variety of teaching methods.
  • Assist with administrative work such as camp registrations.
  • Facilitate play in the Center's exhibit galleries.
  • Assist with developing educational programs for school groups, birthdays or special events.
  • Serve as first responder to minor and major accidents.
Record, track and follow up on incidents and accidents, as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • College degree in education or related field preferred.
  • Minimum 1 year working with children
  • Excellent organizational skills, conflict-resolution skills, oral and written communication skills.
  • Team player who is comfortable working with children and their families, staff and volunteers.
  • Ability to accept and adapt to change with ease.
  • Ability to think and act quickly and logically.
  • Demonstrated personal commitment to valuing life-long learning.
  • Strong dedication to helping the Discovery Center fulfill its mission.
REQUIRED TO
  • Attend mandatory orientation and training sessions,
  • Be available to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays.
Job Types:
Full-time, Part-time Pay:
$22.00 - $25.00 per hour
