Summer Camp Division Head - Teacher/Educator Summer Leadership Role Seasonal Summer Position | Monday-Friday | No Nights or Weekends Tamarack Day Camp is seeking teachers, educators, and experienced youth professionals to join our summer leadership team as Division Heads. This is an excellent summer opportunity for teachers looking to use their classroom management, communication, organization, and leadership skills in a fun and active environment. Division Heads oversee a specific age group of campers while supervising and supporting the counselors who work with them. This is a leadership and supervisory position , not a traditional camp counselor role. Monthly Planning Meetings from January - June 2027
Camp Dates :
June 28th-August 20th (no camp July 5th). Must be available the whole summer. Hours during the summer : 8-4:15 (must be reachable until 6pm). What You'll Do As a Division Head, you will be responsible for the overall experience and daily operation of an assigned camper division.
Responsibilities include:
Supervise, mentor, and support a team of counselors Oversee the daily experience of campers within your assigned age group Use strong classroom and behavior-management skills to support campers and staff Provide counselors with ongoing feedback, coaching, and guidance Communicate with parents Help staff manage group dynamics, camper behavior, and conflict resolution Build positive relationships with campers and staff Monitor camper well-being and help address social, emotional, or behavioral concerns Communicate with camp leadership regarding camper, staff, and divisional needs Ensure staff members are engaged, professional, and meeting camp expectations Coordinate with activity leaders and other Division Heads throughout the camp day Help organize and execute special events, theme days, and camp-wide programs Identify challenges and work collaboratively with camp leadership to find solutions Maintain a safe, positive, organized, and inclusive environment Who We're Looking For This position is especially well suited for teachers and school professionals who are comfortable leading groups, mentoring younger staff, and working with children.
Ideal candidates have:
Teaching, education, camp, coaching, childcare, or youth-development experience Strong classroom or group-management skills Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Leadership, mentoring, or supervisory experience Strong organization and problem-solving abilities The ability to remain calm and make decisions in a fast-paced environment A positive, flexible, and team-oriented approach A genuine interest in working with children and helping younger staff develop Teaching experience is strongly preferred.
