Job Description
Job Summary We are seeking an energetic and passionate Surf Coach to inspire and guide individuals of all ages in mastering the art of surfing. As a key member of our outdoor recreation team, you will foster a fun, safe, and motivating environment where clients can develop their surfing skills, build confidence, and enjoy the thrill of riding waves. Your enthusiasm for water sports, combined with your coaching expertise, will help create memorable experiences that encourage lifelong engagement with the sport. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to share your love for surfing while making a positive impact on our community. Duties Lead engaging and safe surf lessons tailored to participants' skill levels, from beginners to advanced surfers Ensure all safety protocols are followed, including proper use of safety gear and adherence to water safety guidelines Provide clear instruction on surfing techniques, wave reading, paddling, and equipment handling Supervise participants during surf sessions, maintaining constant vigilance to prevent accidents and respond swiftly to emergencies Foster a supportive environment that promotes teamwork, sportsmanship, and personal growth among clients Communicate effectively with clients about their progress, areas for improvement, and upcoming activities Maintain equipment inventory, cleanliness of surf gear, and ensure all safety equipment such as AEDs (Automated External Defibrillators) are operational Qualifications Strong swimming skills with the ability to perform in open water environments Experience working with children and teaching physical education or sports-specific training instruction Excellent communication skills for client interaction and behavior management Certification in First Aid and CPR/AED operation is required; additional certifications in sports coaching or child care are advantageous Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions while maintaining high energy levels and enthusiasm Join us as a Surf Coach and become part of toe LBI Surfing team dedicated to delivering exceptional outdoor water sport experiences.
