Job Description
Sunrise Day Camp is the world's only full-summer day camp dedicated to children with cancer and their siblings, ages 3½-16. Campers enjoy a traditional camp experience while returning home each night, and all programs are provided completely free of charge to families. We are currently hiring STEAM Specialists to join our team for Summer 2026 . STEAM Specialists play an important role in the Sunrise experience by leading engaging science, technology, engineering, art, and math activities and helping create a fun, hands-on learning environment for our campers. Role Overview Lead and engage campers in STEAM activities throughout the camp day
Teach age-appropriate science, technology, engineering, art, and math projects
Participate in and help lead games, activities, and special events
Encourage curiosity, creativity, and problem-solving through hands-on experiences
Serve as a positive role model and build meaningful relationships with campers
Work collaboratively with unit leadership and fellow staff

Mandatory training sessions held in June (dates TBD)
Monday-Friday, daytime hours
Seasonal, in-person position
Transportation is provided for staff Paid & Volunteer Opportunities Paid positions: Minimum commitment of 6 weeks
Volunteer positions: Minimum commitment of 4 weeks Qualifications Must be at least 16 years old
Experience with science, technology, engineering, art, math, or hands-on project instruction preferred
Mature, responsible, energetic, and enthusiastic
Comfortable working with children in a group setting
Willing to participate fully in all camp activities Priority Hiring Priority will be given to STEAM Specialists who live in or near: Orange County, NY
Bergen County, NJ
Westchester County, NY
Putnam County, NY
Bronx, NY
Manhattan, NY
Essex County, NJ STEAM Specialists who are able to also serve as bus counselors (18+) and ride the bus with campers each morning and afternoon will receive priority hiring. Compensation Compensation is age-based
