Job Description

Nature's Classroom Instructor Ohio FFA Camp Muskingum carrollton, Ohio Job Type Temporary Salary $485 per week Min. Experience 0 - 1 year The Opportunity Nature's Classroom is seeking six enthusiastic Outdoor Education Instructors for our fall season. We offer 2-4day residential programs, day programs, and school visits, all built around a custom curriculum designed to meet the needs of each group. No prior nature-education teaching experience is required. As long as you're excited to learn, we'll teach you everything you need to know. What You'll Do Each instructor is assigned a field group of 12-16 students (typically 6th graders) and leads hands-on, activity-based programming throughout their stay.
Your day-to-day will include:
Teaching outdoor classes aligned with middle school educational standards Leading interpretive nature hikes Presenting live animal ambassadors and interpreting pelts, skulls, and other natural artifacts in the nature center Facilitating team-building experiences that promote respect, personal growth, and challenge by choice Leading campfire programs, night hikes, and large group games Eating meals with your group and supporting students throughout the day Working with groups on the high ropes course and climbing tower (as needed) Collaborating with fellow educators to support student learning and development Compensation & Perks Starting pay: $485/week Free housing in the on-site staff house, which includes a full kitchen, satellite TV, free Wi-Fi, and laundry facilities Meals provided when students are at camp Optional weekend work available for additional pay Use of camp equipment during your free time Weekends off to explore the surrounding area, including nearby hiking and outdoor recreation Extensive training provided before the season begins What Sets Us Apart You don't supervise students at night. Our staff lives separately in a large, comfortable staff house, not in student dorms. When the day is done, your time is your own. You choose what you teach. We have a library of lesson plans to choose from each week, and you're encouraged to develop your own. Science, history, art, survival skills - if you're excited about it, it serves the students, and it fits our lesson style, we want you to run with it.
