We're looking for an energetic, dependable karate instructor to teach youth classes through Kyle's Karate at schools in Philadelphia, PA. Near Walnut St/Center City. The classes are for Preschool aged students, so our ideal candidate should be experienced in working with younger students. This is a part-time W-2 employee position , currently offering approximately 2 hours per week during the school year . After starting, more hours may be offered. Additional classes or special events may become available over time as our programs grow, but this position is a good fit for someone looking for a small, consistent weekly schedule to start with room to grow. Kyle's Karate is a modern martial arts and self-defense program that combines exciting instruction with practical, effective techniques. Classes are designed to keep children active, engaged, and having fun while developing confidence, coordination, discipline, and real martial arts skills.
Requirements Our ideal candidate has:
A black belt or equivalent rank in karate or a similar striking martial art, such as Taekwondo or Tang Soo Do. If unsure, apply and let us know which style you practice Experience working with children An energetic, positive, and dependable personality Strong communication skills and the ability to reliably respond by text or email Reliable transportation and a personal vehicle Ability to pass a background check General availability during weekday morning Availability for Thursday morning Responsibilities Responsibilities may include: Leading age-appropriate karate and self-defense lessons Teaching martial arts techniques, drills, games, and activities Managing and supervising groups of children Taking attendance Making notes of any incidents or important class information Communicating with school staff when necessary Taking occasional photos for parent class reports Walking children to pickup locations, restrooms, or the school office when needed Setting up, organizing, and wiping down equipment Classes offered through our programs generally serve children from preschool through 5th grade , so instructors should be comfortable adapting their teaching style to different ages and experience levels. This position is initially for preschool ages, but other classes with schoolagers may be offered in the future. This is a great fit for a martial artist who enjoys working with children, wants a small and dependable part-time teaching schedule, and is interested in the possibility of taking on additional classes as they become available.
