Job Description
Job Description We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Head Teacher to lead our after-school program focused on teaching K-8 students how to play a legal game of chess. Our classes start between the hours of 2pm and 5pm but only 1.5 hrs per school. This role requires a energetic individual who can manage a classroom, provide structured chess instruction, and ensure a positive and engaging learning environment. TMCA provides all materials Responsibilities ✔ Deliver TMCA lesson plans as provided, ensuring students receive structured instruction ✔ Develop and implement supplemental lessons and activities as needed ✔ Lead classes with 15-20 minutes of instruction followed by 40 minutes of gameplay ✔ Maintain classroom order, ensuring a fun yet disciplined learning environment ✔ Take daily attendance and maintain an up-to-date class roster ✔ Monitor class start and end times to ensure smooth transitions ✔ Communicate professionally with parents and school administrators ✔ Train Assistant Coaches interested in becoming Head Coaches ✔ Ensure all equipment is properly stored and classrooms are left in order at the end of each session Qualifications ✔ Experience working with children in an educational or extracurricular setting ✔ Strong classroom management and leadership skills ✔ Knowledge of chess and the ability to teach game fundamentals (Don't have to be an expert) ✔ Enjoy working with students and bring a positive attitude and energy to every class ✔ Passion for working with children and fostering a love for learning ✔ Ability to pass a background check ✔ Excellent communication and organizational skills ✔ Passion for education and youth development Why Join Us?
