Job Description

Make an impact as a Special Education Teacher in a dynamic educational environment near breathtaking Juneau, Alaska. This full-time contract opportunity (ASAP through late May 2027) offers the chance to inspire and support students with diverse learning needs in an engaging school community. With two openings available, energy and expertise are welcomed as you help shape the future of exceptional learners.
Qualifications & Experience:
Active Alaska teaching license and all required certifications (must provide proof of licensure and Type C certification or corresponding documentation upon application) Demonstrated experience in special education classroom settings preferred Knowledge of IEP development, adaptation of curriculum, and implementation of individualized strategies Excellent communication skills and collaborative mindset Comfort with in-person instruction (remote work not available)
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver individualized and group instruction to meet the unique needs of students with disabilities Develop and implement IEPs in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team Assess student progress and adapt instructional methods as needed Establish a positive, inclusive classroom community that supports each student's growth Communicate regularly with parents, caregivers, and fellow educators Foster student independence, social skills, and academic achievement
