POSITION IS TEMPORARY AND WILL CONCLUDE ON SEPTEMBER 30, 2026.

The Auxiliary Teacher provides support to the instructional program within assigned classrooms, with specific responsibility for working with individual students and/or small groups, as well as providing clerical and instructional support to classroom teachers. This role includes assisting with the adaptation of classroom activities to reinforce instructional goals and objectives, as well as supporting weekly instructional planning in collaboration with the lead teacher. Auxiliary Teachers receive daily direction from the lead teacher or school administrator, including guidance on lesson objectives and instructional plans for the day, week, or month. They assist with delivering instruction to individual students and small groups, support students with assignments, and help manage student behavior within the classroom, on the playground, and during school activities. Additional responsibilities include supporting teachers in supervising students during classroom activities, recess, and field trips. Candidates must be able to commit to attending all required professional development sessions and completing teacher practice hours as needed.

Attend all required professional development sessions and meetings. Maintain consistent daily attendance and punctuality to support program goals. Assist students individually and in small groups with assignments to reinforce learning concepts. Implement instructional activities and lesson plans under the supervision of the classroom teacher. Monitor students in the classroom, library, playground, and other settings to ensure a safe and positive learning environment. Support classroom management and reinforce appropriate student behavior. Assist with the preparation of instructional materials and classroom resources. Support the integration of instructional technology as directed by the teacher. Learn, follow, and maintain knowledge of district and school policies and procedures. Perform routine record-keeping, data entry, reporting, and clerical tasks as required. Maintain confidentiality of sensitive student and program information in accordance with district policies. Communicate effectively with teachers, staff, and students to support instructional goals. Demonstrate flexibility and willingness to adapt to changing classroom and student needs. Perform other duties as assigned.

OTHER JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Assume reasonable job-related tasks as assigned by the supervisor in order to meet the needs of the students/school.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

Time management skills Ability to follow oral and written instructions; reading Ability to work independently with or without supervision. Ability to discern stages of child development/age-appropriate activities Knowledge of safety rules in the workplace. Ability and will to work with a significant diversity of individuals and perform effectively as a team member. Must have basic computer skills to enter student data.

QUALIFICATIONS

Experience working with school-age children is preferred. Ability to perform tasks requiring moderate physical activity. Ability to follow both oral and written instructions effectively. A Child Development Associate credential (CDA) or nine (9) hours of approved early childhood education coursework are preferred but not required. Bilingual candidates are preferred but not required.
