The Project SEARCH Teacher works with the Project SEARCH steering committee to implement the goals of the Project SEARCH program. The teacher will facilitate the Project SEARCH program to which he/she is assigned.

DUTIES:

The duties include but are not limited to: Perform specific job analysis, task analysis, and job matching activities. Assist with developing internship sites at the host business. Plan with students, families, and agency personnel to determine career interests, specific job preferences (hours, location, etc.), skills and abilities to develop an individualized approach to placement. Plan and implement monthly staffings for each intern with appropriate members including the VR Counselor and parent. Schedule, plan, and implement monthly written communication with parents and other stakeholders. Schedule, plan and implement Open Houses to publicize the program and recruit potential students. Communicate regularly with business liaison, job coaches for student progress and issues. Establishes objectives and plans learning experiences. Implements activities using a variety of techniques that utilize instructional time to meet objectives. Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior to achieve a functional learning atmosphere. Exhibits positive human relations skills. Evaluates the educational program and/or student progress. Communicates with parents/guardians, colleagues, and community groups. Demonstrates proficiency in written and oral communication. Maintains and submits records and reports. Adheres to school system and business site rules, administrative procedures, local board policies, and state and federal rules and regulations. Engages in personal professional growth and demonstrates professional ethics and leadership.

QUALIFICATIONS

Must have a Current Valid Alabama Teaching Certificate in Special Education. Duty Days 187

Additional Job Information •Applicants selected for certified positions must have undergone an ABI/FBI criminal history background check (fingerprinting administered through sites selected and approved by the MCPSS and State of Alabama Education Department) and been declared suitable and fit to teach under state law.
