Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Step into a rewarding contract position supporting students in an elementary resource classroom setting. This opportunity is perfect for a dedicated Special Education Teacher ready to make a meaningful difference for 4th-6th grade learners. Work alongside passionate colleagues in a supportive environment while enjoying a structured, daytime schedule. Interviews are happening right away for a single opening with a start date of September 28, 2026, and the contract runs through May 28, 2027. The position offers 30 hours per week, scheduled from 8:05am to 2:40pm, with a 35-minute unpaid break each day.
Qualifications:
Current and active Special Education Teaching License for Alabama Experience working with elementary-aged students, specifically grades 4-6, is highly preferred Ability to collaborate effectively with teachers, aides, and administrators Strong communication and organization skills Commitment to fostering a supportive and inclusive classroom environment
Responsibilities:
Provide individualized instruction and support to students with a range of learning needs in a resource classroom Develop and implement IEPs according to student goals and state standards Adapt curriculum materials and instructional strategies to promote student success Monitor progress and maintain detailed, accurate records Collaborate with general education teachers and other team members to ensure consistency in student support Communicate regularly with families regarding student growth and needs Enjoy the stability and security of a W-2 contracted position, with weekly paychecks and the opportunity to participate in a 401K plan.
