Provide students with Special Education instruction in grades K-6, implementing Individual Education Plans in class, group & individual settings.
Duties:
Responsible for ensuring that classroom and curriculum meet Marion pedagogy and Arkansas Academic State Standards for every subject area assigned. Adheres to Code of Ethics as set forth by Arkansas Department of Education. Evaluates + maintains complete + accurate files regarding students' academic progress + physical, social + emotional growth, + communicates with parents or guardians on individual student's progress. Plans + evaluates developmentally appropriate daily lessons. Identifies needs of a group of students, as well as individual students, + provides for continuous assessment of their ability + differentiated instruction to meet individual needs. Provides instruction, organization and management in classroom, which creates a respectful environment conducive to learning. Supervises students both in + out of classroom in a respectful + positive manner. Responsible for appropriate use of space, equipment, + material storage. Responsible for creating + maintaining healthy + safe environment within classroom + school,. Adheres to all school systems, protocols + policies that are developed. Maintains professional competence through participation in school provided in-service activities and/or self-selected professional growth activities related to job responsibilities. Initiates, plans + participates in parent/guardian conferences + other contact, as well as sending written information home about class activities, in a timely manner. Consults with Principal or designee to address needs of students who are struggling. Responsible for communicating + coordinating with subject teachers regarding lessons, child behavior, parent communication, + reports through regular meetings. Participates on required committees as prescribed by Principal. Participates in assessment + planning of curriculum development + other programs to meet the needs of the school. Attends regular supervisory meetings with Principal. Respects confidentiality of information about enrolled children and families, personnel issues, contributors, + other school operations, as per FERPA regulations + policies. Must undergo background and reference checks. Must have Bachelors in Special Education, Education or rel field; and hold (or be eligible for) relevant Standard Arkansas Educator License in Special Education unless falling under legal exception.
